HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR FLIGHT TRAINING?
When you come in for the first time we will have you complete an information packet and review with you the training requirements for the certificate or rating you are seeking. We will then develop with you a training program that meets the remaining requirements and get you started in that program.
DO YOU HAVE A GROUND SCHOOL CLASS?
We do conduct a formal ground school class periodically. Most of the ground training is done one-on-one with your flight instructor and through personal study with books and course materials. To prepare for the FAA written test we recommend using the King Schools Computer course. Most of our students have used these courses and found them to be very helpful in preparing for the FAA written exam.
WHERE DO I TAKE THE FAA WRITTEN EXAM?
You can take the FAA written exam at the Dixie State University Testing Center. We can help you get signed up when you are ready to take the exam.
WHAT AIRPLANES DO YOU USE FOR FLIGHT TRAINING?
We use a Piper Archer, Cessna 172's, Piper Comanche, and a Cessna 310.
WILL I FLY OVER SOME OF THE SCENIC AREAS DURING MY FLIGHT TRAINING?
Yes. We routinely fly near Zion National Park, Lake Powell, Lake Mead, Bryce Canyon, Kolob Canyons, and other scenic areas.
DO YOU HAVE ACCELERATED TRAINING AVAILABLE?
Yes. We offer accelerated training for private pilot, instrument rating, and commercial rating. There are several requirements that need to be met before you begin an accelerated training program and your flight instructor can review with you all the necessary items.
DO YOU HAVE FINANCING AVAILABLE FOR FLIGHT TRAINING?
Yes. We do have financing available through Pilot Finance or AOPA Finance, however, these programs can be a little high on the interest rate so if you qualify, its usually best to work through your local bank or credit union to finance your flight training.
WILL I NEED TO BUY EXTRA INSURANCE TO FLY THE AIRPLANES?
We do have insurance that covers the airplanes and our instructors, but any liability you may have in the event of an accident or incident is not covered by our insurance. We do not require it, but we recommend that you purchase non-owned renters liability insurance to provide you with liability protection. It is not very expensive, usually less than $300.00 per year, and can be purchased through the Avemco or AOPA websites.
DO YOU HAVE HOUSING ACCOMMODATIONS AVAILABLE?
We have arrangements with some local hotels for lower rates for our students. If you are coming in from outside the area for an accelerated training program, we will assist you with locating appropriate accommodations. Also, there are many housing options available on sites such as AirBnb and others.
