Named after the Ultra Music label, the festival started in 1999 thanks to its founders, Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes. It has enthralled music lovers for over two decades since. Over the years, Ultra Festival spread worldwide with editions in Buenos Aires, Santiago, Seoul, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Tokyo, Bali, Indonesia, Singapore, and Ibiza.
Early Bird tickets, priced at just $299.95**, will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, exclusively to fans that register at ultramusicfestival.com/tickets before 12:01 am on September 28.
The internationally renowned festival, which has taken place every March since its inception, celebrated its seventeenth anniversary from March 27-29, 2015 by bringing over 165,000 music enthusiasts to the sold out waterfront event in the heart of the City of Miami. Ultra Music Festival returns to Bayfront Park for its eighteenth annual edition, 18-20 March 2016.
With a skillfully curated soundtrack, a vast variety of tracks are covered from the multi-genre festival, including original music from Martin Garrix, Axwell / Ingrosso, Tchami, Malaa, Camelphat, Wehbba and many more.
The lawsuit, which was filed late last month in the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, states that Event Entertainment Group promised ticket holders who bought tickets for the March 20-22, 2020, that in lieu of a refund, their tickets could be transferred to the 2021 or 2022 versions of the festival. According to the lawsuit, Ultra allegedly promised ticket holders an enhanced benefits package for the 2021 festival instead of giving refunds.
In May last year, Florida residents Samuel Hernandez and Richard Montoure issued a lawsuit against Ultra, after being denied refunds for their tickets to the festival. Then men spent $3000 dollars and $1032.02 respectively on tickets. In a 25-page document, both men outlined their attempts to seek refunds for their tickets but were told that Ultra would only offer compensation tickets for either the 2021 or 2022 edition of the festival.
Ultra Music Festival (UMF) is an annual outdoor electronic music festival that takes place during March in Miami, Florida, United States. The festival was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes.
Since 2011, Ultra has taken place across three days (Friday through Sunday) during the month of March. In 2012, it had a record attendance, of 155,000 people. In 2013, the festival took place across two consecutive weekends to celebrate its 15th anniversary, with a combined attendance of 330,000 people. In 2014, the festival returned to its original single-weekend format, selling out pre-sale tickets in under five minutes. The city of Miami has estimated that since 2012, Ultra has \"generated approximately $995 million of economic impact\", with $168 million in 2018 alone. The festival had been suspended since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in 2022.
Concerns were presented over the festival's effects on local wildlife; the island features a number of sensitive wildlife areas and hosts various endangered species, and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science displayed concerns that the loud music produced by the event could disrupt marine habitats, and in turn, research projects being undertaken by the school. Organizers stated that they expected to place more of the stages in the parking lots surrounding the Miami Marine Stadium than the beach. Ultra planned to employ environmental strategies such as not using confetti, banning single-use plastic cups and straws (requiring vendors to use paper or otherwise compostable cups and packaging), using \"close proximity pyrotechnic alternatives\" to traditional fireworks to reduce pollution and debris, increasing the number of water stations, and discouraging attendees from leaving trash behind.
After the move to Virginia Key in 2019 and cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, Ultra Music Festival returned to the Bayfront Park location for the 2022 edition on March 25, 26 and 27, 2022. The Phase 1 lineup for the festival was revealed on October 26, 2021, featuring Kygo, Martin Garrix, Nina Kraviz, and Gareth Emery among others. Phase 2 of the lineup was revealed on November 17, adding Afrojack (ft. MC Ambush), Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and others, with the final lineup revealed on February 1, 2022. Hardwell performed as the closing act of the festival after being announced as an \"exclusive\" guest \"present[ing] a highly anticipated performance by one of the most iconic artists in electronic music history\".
EDM is the acronym for Electronic Dance Music, which is a rapidly-growing genre of music that originated from DJ-driven sampling and remixing. Once the domain of night clubs where DJs ply their trade, EDM has expanded into a full-blown movement. Some would say it's even analogous to the peace and love ethos of the 1970s, which was perpetuated by festivals like Woodstock. Like Woodstock, EDM festivals have moved outdoors, and this summer, there will be at least seven major festivals across the country with names like The Electric Forest Festival, Electric Zoo Festival and San Francisco LovEvolution technoparade. The first of these festivals is the Ultra Music Festival, which kicks off at the end of this month in Miami. Based on data from TiqIQ, Ultra Music Festival tickets have an average price on the secondary market of $697, or $200 more than the face price of the ticket after fees. That makes it one of the most expensive concert tickets of the season. At an average of over $230 a day for the festival, Ultra is as expensive as many other brand-name acts like Cher tickets, Lady Gaga tickets and Bruce Springsteen tickets. Ultra took a risk in raising ticket prices by 30% this year, which has been a cause of message-board consternation since they announced the increase. Last August before the onsale, a limited number of early-bird tickets went on sale at $150 each. To the chagrin of many fans, they were gone in four minutes. As of today, there are still 15% of tickets available for sale on the primary market for $399. If the festival manages to sell those remaining tickets, they should match last years 330,000 attendance record for the three-day show. If they do, ticket sales alone will generate $132 million in revenue. According to the Miami New Times, the economic impact of the festival on the local economy last year was $79 million, which means that this year Ultra will be responsible for generating over $200 million in three days.
